Our staff has been certified by the American Heart Association in Heart-Saving Pediatric First Aid provision, Child/Infant CPR, AED, Medication Administration, and Epi-pen, among other emergency health care and welfare provision for children under our care. CurriculumAt the daycare, our curriculum allows each child to choose and navigate their individual learning process as they grow and develop. These curriculums are categorized into several themes that adhere to the growth and development of every child under our care. Playtime is considered as a means to providing certain experiences to learn new concepts, skills, and information as children grow and learn. Just to mention a few of the curriculum we apply such as Creative Curriculum, Funshine Express, Fireflies, and The Mailbox among others. More so, based on the staff's creativity they are able to improvise by themselves outside the set curriculum if need be.

InstructionAt the Cozy Den Childcare, we apply a combination of several theories to execute high quality learning. We also convert these theories to practical methods of learning for the children. One of the theory we apply practically is Maria Montessori. Her methods teach children how to learn best in an environment that has been prepared to enable them to be independent. At the daycare, we call this particular method self-teaching. Secondly, Albert Bandura methods teaches the children the social learning theory that emphasizes the importance of observing, modelling, and imitation of behavioral science, attitudes, and emotional reactions of people around them. At the daycare we apply this theory in order to help the children understand the importance of being able to react to certain behaviors; that will be either beneficial or otherwise destructive to their development. Lastly, at the daycare, we apply the Marva Collins theory that emphasizes teaching phonics the right way. Closely tied to this feature, The Marva Collins theory also focuses on building up a child's confidence to enable that child to learn at his or her full potential. At the daycare, we refer to this particular method as the confidence building.

PlaytimeThe ability for children to be able to express themselves in the form of play has been the foundation of children's growth and development. Playtime among other things enhances a child's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. While literacy skills are essential, our experience over the years as educators has shown that children playtime provides memorable experiences. Also playtime can serve as a viral bedrock of any child's growth and development. These times contribute a very important role in shaping a child's perspective about the world. At the daycare we include playtime into our curriculum to ensure that every child goes through this very important aspect.

Literacy SkillsOne of the most important responsibilities of The Cozy Den Childcare is to provide home activities that enhance literacy in children and help create strong family bonds between parent and child. As most of these literacy materials are borrowed by parents and used at home. We have in our collection over 1,000 children's books and 120 of them are made accessible daily for our little friends. To mention we love our Mitchell library visits where we engage in awesome story-time and stay and play groups.. Lastly, each child receives a new book every month to add to their home libraries thanks to a partnership with Read to Grow, Inc. This partnership makes it feasible for the daycare to be able to make appropriate plans for literacy skills for our children even when they are not at the daycare.

NutritionAt the Cozy Den Childcare, we provide healthy meals and snacks at no additional costs to the parents. Our partnership with Saugatuck Outreach Nutrition program is to ensure that children at the daycare are provided healthy meals and snacks that meet their individual daily intake of nutritional requirements, while in our care. We provide home cooked meals to children at the daycare. We also have weekly nutrition activities that include among other things nutrition classes, food art and literacy from the Kidz Kook Association's curriculum.

AdventuresAt the Cozy Den Childcare, one of our main principle as it relates to child growth and development is our ability to create flourishing opportunities inside and outside the daycare to help in the nurturing the development of children in our care. We are able to achieve this feat by creating a thriving environment even outside the daycare. With the permission of the parents, we undertake field trips to see the movies, farming expeditions, live shows, themed community walks, and local library visits for stay and play groups. These experiences give children the desired exposure to learn new things and teach etiquette. Also establish new social interactions with each other and people around them. In addition, these experiences expand the knowledge of their immediate and remote community where they find themselves.
